Talking If only Ford or Roush made a crate FE...

I think it would be awesome to see some nice new crates that were pushing some cubes in the FE series. I don't know if eventually that will happen since they are coming to be more popular. Sizes I would like to see maybe around 500 or something, if they would make it possible. Also it would be awsome if they had a 427 cammer crate with like 700 or 800 horse out of the box! Just something I wanted to express. Anybody have any other ideas feel free to post.

Rousch makes a FE based crate engines up to 511ci. based on the Shelby aluminum block. one of the first ones went in Chip Fooses 56 Ford that they overhauled for him.

check their website out for more info.

They are in the process of making a 427 cammer crate (not Roush). Then all you need is a rotating assembly for the 427...

I'm sure if Roush makes one, it might be a little $$,$$$ for most people! JMO

Back in the 05 FMS catalog there were iron and alumnium block Genesis crate engines. Many bore and stroke combos. M-6007-A427 for iron and M-6007-B427 for aluminum block crate engine. Also bare blocks. 06 FMS catalog was just down to the bare Genesis blocks. Both are gone in the 07 and new 08 catalog. I'm not sure if they are an option anymore.

Man I've been drooling over those new cammers parts too!!

I guess that you would have to have a custom made FE then if you really want one. But I like to do it myself LOL

Maybe when I win the lotto......I'll buy a few SOHC's like RWJ. I want to be like him when I'm older LOL

I guess I have never noticed those crate motors. How come you don't see them in any jegs or summit catalogs? Speaking of that 427 cammer crate when are they going to come out with them?

Don't know exactly when the SOHC stuff is coming out yet. Price rang will be around $12,000 to $15,000. But you will have to buy your own rotating assembly (crank, rods, pistons). It does come with everything else!

Keep an eye out for the cammer stuff. Dove is the main offering but Paul Munro and Bill Coons also have some cammer stuff coming out. Mike Jackson used to make some stuff before he passed.

Too bad for the guys with original cammers. The value will drop like a rock just like everything else reproduced.

Your right Wes, Wayne is a real nice guy. To openly invite the entire forum to a BBQ at his house after the PRI show is something! Food, beer and cammers. My kinda time!

ford390fe, yes the FE crate engines were never offered by Jegs or Summit. Perhaps if they were still being sold by Ford they might have offered them. QC issues came into play and became time consuming and expensive to fix. Ford then dropped the program. Maybe now things have improved with the aftermarket blocks it might be a future item. I hope so.

Stryder yep some original 427 parts have come down quite a bit. I've seen some 428 blocks and parts recently that have sold for more than the 427 stuff. Crazy! Hopefully the oem cammers will hold value. Tunnelport parts are really in the toilet. Guys are still trying to get good money for them and they just aren't selling. With all the new heads and CNC programs among the other new parts guys are getting more bang for the buck in the aftermarket.

There's a seller on ebay offering rebuilt 428's for "only" $13,000 Don't know if he's sold any at that price. You could build an all new 427 for less.

On one hand its great that the aftermarket if finally coming around on FE parts. On the other, its sad that they have to do so by recasting from original molds instead of coming up with new casting. I bought a set of 428CJ snake valve covers 7-8 years ago for around $400. Today they are about worthless now because some guy is recasting them from the Ford molds...with Ford part number and all.
