I am thinking about buying a Ford F-150 but I do have some concerns with the issues with the spark plugs. I do like the truck very much and I read the talks about the best ways to replace them. Are they any other issues that I need to look for when I do decide to buy my truck?
I had a spark plug night mare. I've posted it on here in a couple places around here regarding so I won't go back into it. I would go buy another one really without question.
IF you get one new engough(I believe the Late 07s and 08 models) there won't be a spark plug problem.
I have less than 500 miles till I change mine now
I'm hoping all goes well. I have everything needed to do it, but don't want a plug to break.
Other than the plug problem, I wouldn't worry about anything.
What's different about the 07 and 08's b/c I heard nothings changed. If it's antisieze, I thought Ford didn't recommend it. Besides I think antisieze on the shield part that gets stuck will not make a difference. Probably doesn't last long and will not function like it does when put on the threads.
Otherwise, in the 5.4, I would be more concerned about the VCT and all the knocking this engine does(cam phasers, valve tensioner thingy, injectors). I love my truck but this engine makes a lot more popping and tinking and knocking than the 4.6 in my expedition(which is very quiet and smooth).
if you get a 5.4 then the cam phasers might be a small issue.
my dad has an 08 and has alittle over 1000 miles and he said its been ticking (from the cam phasers) since he got it (w. 15 miles) but its soo faint i havent even heard it
