I have a 04 Lariat extended cab 5.4 truck. When it was new I purchased the daytime running light kit from Ford for this truck. When I saw it involved cutting into the factory wiring harness I held off installing it untill out of warrenty. My question is has anyone installed this kit and how difficult was it to identify the factory wires that need to be tapped into. Rather than cut and splice I would use the crimp-on connectors. Any advice would be appreciated. Doug-j
The Dealer told me the same thing after agreeing to install DRL as part of the purchase agreement on my 2001 F-150, showed me the components, harness, etc. Wouldn't guarantee the electrical, after they were done. They were a bunch of idiots. Purchased a DRL control module, and resister, took all of 40 minutes to install. Everthing plugged in, only tools I used were a screw driver and small adjustable. A second one would have taken twenty minutes. Go to "ford parts on line" Look under "Collision" "Electrical" "Day Time Running Lamps" The Control Module is $86.29 MSRP, I'd give them a call on their Toll free line for some instruction and to see if you need the resister for your truck year.
