I have a real stumper here. My F250 w/ about 200K on it randomly stumbles and or cuts out at any time. Once I almost had to get it towed because it wouldn't restart right away. It feels electrical the way it cuts out so quickly. Changed, CPS, fuel filter, ignition switch and the problem still exists. I'm getting a code U2015 which is that the PCM is getting cut power I think. I do have a super chip which I will pull to make sure that isn't causeing the problem. Anyone have an issue w/ bad PCM or something w/ this type of problem. Any clues would be helpful here.
Welcome to the site. Try it without the chip. That would be the first place to start. Do you get any dash lights that flash or don't function normally? Especially in the no start situation. It could be a chaffed wiring harness. But as stated earlier lets start with the simple thing and check the chip.
i had a problem where my truck would just cut out and die, somtimes it would loose power for a second while giving it gas. Turned out to be my IPR, the nut and spacer had fallen of so it was just kinda slinding around.
Thanks guys, turns out it was a loose superchip. I left it out for now as I'm going to get a reburn for the big exaust and K&N intake kit I have now. I'm going to ask super chip if I should be applying some type of dielectric compound or something in the connector. I didn't see anything in the instructions about it.
I think i had a similair problem to what you are having. i have a 2000 F-350 with 90K miles and no serious issues until now. I was curious to know if you experienced the same problems . . . while driving the speedometer and tach would drop to 0 when the engine cuts out and seconds after engine cuts, power steering is gone. when you try to turn the truck back on it simply trys to turn over but will not. . . but once it finally started back up it would run fine. I also like you, replaced the cam position sensor and fuel filter and i have not had the problem since for at least 2 months but i encounted some thing new but first i have a suggestion/ question for you. whether or not your truck has white smoke coming out of the exhaust when you attempt to restart your truck if so then therotically i should be you CPS if not you have a fuel supply issue, and i was also wondering when you experience this issue, my truck had problems any time it rained or snowed and i was told to check any ground wires from the computer that could cause the computer to short and cut off power ? i too am very confused on what to do and recently but not often the truck would shut off at a stops or when braking into a low speed corner. i installed a hypertch programmer and called hypertechs support center and was promised that a chip or programmer would not cause such issues and i did erase the programmer to see if problem still existed and the problem remained even with no programming so i am once again in a world of frustration. if you find any suggestions please post them i am very curious to your findings.

Welcome to FTE chrissknr. If you start a new post for your truck we'll be glad to help you out.
Welcome to FTE, crissknr, I had similar problem, I also run the Hypertec, My problem wasn't actually the CPS but the harness that plugs into it was intermittant. When it was under warranty dealer said they "repaired" the harness. The problem never returned. That was 60-70k ago. All I'm saying is check the harness too.
Chris,
Again so far since I removed my chip things seem to be ok. I didn't notice if there was excessive smoke or not. I didn't have a problem w/ the tac but the speedo did drop off at times which caused the tranny to flip out. I think this is a seperate issue. The quitting problem was random, could happen at any time pretty much. I think I have another problem w/ the speedo but if that problem goes away also that would be fine w/ me. Changed the VSS for the speedo and in the past I still had the problem. Suspect a harness issue on that one since a times I also have a Rear ABS code also. Again, another topic I think

I am new to this forum so i will try to open a new post for my truck so i dont crowd anyone elses page with my questions but i also did some research concerning similar symptoms and found alot of people pointing thier fingers towards ICP or IPR sensors. I am still trying to get more information on these two items and as soon as i have more information i will post it on this page to help any of you. but once again look into ICP injection control pressure sensor or IPR sensors if you get a chance it has same characteristic to a CPS sensor ie. engine cut offs unexplainable power loss etc... hope this will help someone ! take care.
I found some useful information concerning IPR and ICP sensors. Your IPR sensor is located to the lower right of the fuel filter if you are looking from directly above the filter, it is a 2 prong connector with a metal clip holding. Check this sensor for any shorts to ground along with the ICP. These 2 sensors could explain the engine cut offs and power loss. If you are still uncertain about CPS or these sensors you need to do both a KOEO and KOER checks to determine the faulty part. KOEO key on engine off, KOER key on engine running . . . a dealership will be able to do this checks specificaly for those sensors which could be worth the confusion, but check for shorts to ground during both checks and look for any differences in voltage range between the 2 tests. i hope this helps but i am going to replace my IPR sensor soon and will post any results.
