Question Downpipe size???

I have been looking at some exhaust systems. Found 1 with the option of a 3" dp or a 4" dp(4" pipe the rest of the way out) Would the 4" dp be worth the trouble of bending the crap out of the fire wall? 4" from the turbo to the rear of the truck sounds like a great idea, not sure its worth the extra $$ or time

Not really you have to beat the firewall in with the 3" I would hate to see what you have to do to get the 4" in there without a body lift

When I turbo'd my 6.9 I wanted a 3" downpipe.
So I put a 2" body lift under it.
I think I have plenty of room for a 5" now, the three inch is far from the cab.

I got mine from Dale (Tymar Performance) It goes from 3" at turbo connection to 3.5" then to 4" where it meets exhaust pipe. Only had to do min firewall massage which is unavoidable anyway. Give Dale a call. he got mine ceramic coated for a few dollars more.

Do the hood stack. I've never seen one done on a daily driver PSD!

I was told that the factory exhaust on your truck is pretty good. I have the same truck. Gactory DP sucks. Change it to a 3. It wasnt bad. I did mine in about 2 hours. Getting the old off was the bitch. I had to cut it in 4 places with a sawzall. From what I was told under 300hp, your has 215 I think, 3" exhaust is sufficient. Going to 4 wont help.

I would stick with the 3" down pipe. It can be troublesome enough to get in let alone a four inch. Body lifts do help alot. We've instaled em were the go in pretty easy then the next truck will fight you all the way. I think on some of the older trucks with some miles on em the motor mounts start to sag.

It would have to be a slot to open the hood.
