That sheet is what I was looking for but couldn't get from the local smog tech. At least I have an idea of the equipment required. Now I need pics and a source for replacement parts. The truck has a GVW of 9550, so that makes it fall under Heavy Duty Emissions 351M engine.
IMO, a smog guy wont care if a carberator has a DIVE-6015 part number on it, or a PH-8A, the guy straight up will not give a crap. He will look in his book, read a bunch of abreviations, look to see if he thinks the stuff is hooked up correctly, and will issue a pass or fail based on what he sees. This is a sneak peek at what the guy will use to figure out what you have. (I don't have the abreviations scanned, so you are on your own to figure it out.)
You're right...a smog guy won't give a rats behind about what the ID numbers are, but he won't issue a pass or fail until the vehicle is actually tested.
If the wrong parts are installed...from the 49 states, it may not pass smog.
The parts have different calibrations.
Why would Ford...throughout the parts catalogs...have the following notation "with CA emission" if everything is the same nationwide?
I've seen those "vehicle failed" print out sheets 100's of times which point to what part(s) failed, for whatever reason.
Then sold the customer the CORRECT part(s) 100's of times.

If the DSO number is 71 or 72, the truck was sold new in CA.
If the DSO number isn't 71 or 72, it makes no difference.
Regardless of where the truck was sold new, it still must meet CA standards in order to pass a smog inspection.
If none of this crappola didn't matter, I wouldn't give a damn about this scheiss!!
The fact is...is does matter!

Bill the OP stated engine "E"
I have limited info to go on.
I have 7 Califronia only diagrams but I need to see the sticker
see the very upper right hand corner of my image I posted.
This is the ONLY engine E diagram I have. ...it involves all 50 states
From day one...all this CA only emissions parts was a royal PITA.
From the chart you posted on a previous page, I have looked at every Ford ID number, and come up with the correct part numbers that pertain to CA.
Some are different.
I'm waiting for the OP to pass along the pics...I'll pass them on to you, or the OP can send them to you.
My ref to "CA Ford parts counter experience" meant I know what the hell I'm talking about. It wasn't meant as a slur towards you. If you took it that way, I apologize.

CA is unique when it comes to emission parts...how well I know.
You just can't stick anything on there, it has to be CALIFORNIA otherwise it won't pass a smog inspection.
ALL my application books state Only pre- 1979 show California specifc listings.
in 1979 everything changes to ..All 50 states.
The diagram I posted in a engine E ..a NON-Catalyst system
thus,. no catalytic convertors...
thus,.... less Emissions crap.
The smog sheet that was posted earlier showed the equipment required on a 1979 model and still showed California Only footnotes. Maybe the change to 50 state specs happened earlier for cars than trucks?
Sent some picks to Bill (NumberDummy) and a description of the info plates on the door and hood. Any idea what a manifold, carb and air cleaner assembly might cost? I'll need these parts at the least.
Masterbeavis the number you're looking for is DSO 71. It says WB 133/Color D/Type F350/Body SF4/Trans K/Axle 37A/Max GVWR 8550/Year 1979. Hope this scratches the itch.
