Rubicon express has a real strong hanger kit, I put one on an Excursion. I've read somewhere, I don't remember where, that some guys go to a one piece rear shaft. I guess they can't get the carrier bearing vibes to go away. Not sure about the front, but degree shims might help.

Did Storm start these ideas ?

Yeah, Storm was mentioning selling his hangers...
While 4.5 is too much, I was thinking about the 2.5...
I was told once over 8'' and there is a bunch of other things that are needed

I know some of the DR 10.5 and 12.5 come with cross over steering...

www.bulletproofsteering.com has some nice stuff, starts at $369 for a steering system with the heim joints. I'm starting to get some play in mine. I'd like to get thier setup. Thier entry level kit is 2.5 times stronger than factory, so they claim

When I got the lift for my truck (granted this was in '02), I wanted to go to 8" but was told (by a reputable truck shop in AZ) that going >= 8" would require driveshaft lengthening, cross over steering, brake lines, vacuum lines, etc... Too much involved so I stuck with a 6.5" lift... I would guess if you haven't had to do that on your truck now, you'll need to if/when you go higher.

Lengthen front driveshaft at a minimum.

At a 10" or 10.5" I would definately do crossover steering and relocate your trac bar. This gives you better steering geometry, better handling and is much safer.

Here's my steering setup:

You can see with the drag link and trac bar up high you get much better (less severe) angles.

Sorry dude, I don't mean to , but it's such a good shot, I gotta ask....

Dan,

What did you paint/coat your suspension/steeering parts with and how the h*** do you keep it so clean? I know you use it, play in the snow, get it dirty etc. but it looks like new. Are you constantly touching up?

Thanks

Sorry for jumping in bigrey

Dave,

I had my hangers, crossmember, tie rod, trac bar, drag link, sway bar, diff cover, shock hoops, etc... all powdercoated. Anything that's light silver looking is powdercoat. It's "near chrome" with clear over it. I just wash it.

The leaf springs, axles and driveshafts where all done using Krylon Rust Tough pimer and their Hammertone Charcoal paint.
I haven't played with the truck off road or taken it through any road salt since I painted it.
The previous winter I drove it all year and it rust all those parts to hell. So, I painted them over last winter and parked it last winter...and will park it this winter. Only put ~1000 miles on it over the last year.

My entire exhaust is pretty clean too (polished T-304).

Oh, it's turning into a driveway queen, huh???

Just ribbin ya man, it's still a sweet truck, I don't care if it's parked or not. Hell, I wish I could park mine!! Thanks Dan.

Garage Queen.

I keep my 01 and 07 parked side by side in my garage at my house

I work crazy hours a week, work out at night, etc.. so by the time I leave home again (often for a short trip back to the office, LOL) it's easier to take the 07 since it's still somewhat warm from driving it home (and often I drive it all day).

where is the trac bar relocated to? Kinda hard to see
also what did the cross over steering run you

and yeah, it looks very very pretty under there
one of these days when I get a chance I am going to paint all my stuff, makes the whole truck look a lot better

Trac bar connects to a plate that sits on top of the spring pack where the u-bolts pass over and the shocks are mounted too.

I have the Dynatrac Super Duty Combo Kit....which upgrades a lot of my axle components and all of my steering....retails for $3200
