Hi Tony, and Welcome! There's not much more I can add to what's been said so far...just watch out for a few loose nuts rolling around the chapter!
I live up at Clear lake, a few hours to the north but it happens I'm involved with the Dickens' Fair at the Cow Palace so I'm in the city every weekend for the next month or so...maybe we'll run across each other.
Happy Friday to all. As I was reading these posts I noticed a few of you are from Modesto area. Just so happens that my girlfriend was raised in the waterford area...her cougar sat out there in her father's backyard for about 5 years. I'll let you guys know when we head out there in my truck!

Tony
I have relatives in Modesto.
Speaking of Cougars, I use to have one; a rust bucket, but did it move; '69 XR-7 with a 351w.
And happy Friday to you to, and to all.

Thanks TigerDan! I'll keep my eye out for 'em...hehe.
Oh yeah, I know exactly where clear lake is. Just north of sonoma county lines. I used to live up in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa area where I met a few folks who moved there from clear lake. They had good things to say of the area. My girlfriend has been there and says it's beautiful. Quite a commute for you but I'm sure it's not so bad when rolling in the Ford. (even in the narrows).
We'll have to plan a meeting at the cow palace. Well thanks again.
Tony

My F-250 was assembled at the San Jose plant too. Don't know where the Ranger was assembled yet. I have heard that the San Jose plant is not there anymore, and they have a mall in its place.

Excellent Nighteyez... I was pretty excited when I found out where mine was built being that I'm a California native too. hehe
Sad but not surprising to hear about a mall taking the place of where our Trucks were built. Just another great reason for me to restore my truck..
Hi tony, welcome to the FTE site, lot of great info here. i havent been over to this forum in awhile, i've been hanging out in the 67 to 72 group lately,
Welcome to the club. My son had a 65 F100, with the 352 and 4x4. He and I wrenched on it for a while, before he moved down to Southern Cal, then it just sat in my driveway for a year or so. Eventually, I put a fresh 360 in it (as his 352 used as much oil as gasoline) and delivered it to him down in Palmdale where he lives. I love my son very much, but I sure could have kicked his butt when he got it impounded and didn't manage to come up with the impound money. I'm sure its crushed and recycled into a bridge abutment or something by now.
Though my old Ford is a 70's (74), I always did like the looks of those old 60's vintage Ford trucks.
...I appreciate the welcome and the story. Sorry to hear about the impound of the truck.
Side Note: should be done sanding the bed of the truck this week. I'm going to post a thread asking the advice of how some of you guys would proceed.
My plan is to primer the bed then black gloss; inside bed walls will be dark grey primer. I'm wondering if it would be a waste to use Por15 being that I'll have removed most of the rust via sanding\grinding.
Glad to see your getting into your Ford. There are a few of us Cougar owners out there too. I've had three in the past. I have a '73 SB F100 now and am looking forward to my motor rebuild soon.
You'll like these guys they do know how to have fun. I think we need another work day on the project truck after the first of the year though.
Is your metal rusty? Sanding alone will not remove all the rust. The por 15 or some other rust neutralizer is necessary insurance that the rust won't come back thru your new paint. Also, after you prime, is the truck out of the weather. Even if it is, there in Frisco, there is prob enough moisture nad salt to start the corrosion again. I would suggest painting the final coat asap after the primer to keep the rust threat at "bay." Did you see that Karl, I dun made a funny! Good luck, Jag
Yeah ^^^^^ what Jag said. I love Por 15. It cost a little more than other rust converters and for important items where you don't want rust returning, it's the ticket.
