need some traction

I have a 65 F-100 that my dad and i putb a efi 5.0 in it and i am building a 347 stroker for and and i need to get some traction. not only does it suck when my 4.11 don't hook up but the real problem is my diff bobs around back there and i have bent a set of drive shafts already and and i need a trction bar of some type. one thing we converted to step side so we took out leafs. we are going to add all the leafs back and i think we are going to cut one of the long ones in half and drill and attack a snubber to them and make a traction bar out of them that will bolt into the u bolts on the bottom of the stack and i think this would help anybody else got any ideas. by the way we are on a budget.

I don't know about making a traction bar out of a leaf spring. That will flex quite a bit. Traction bars are tubular for a reason, they won't flex. I'd suggest getting a traction bar out of Summit. This is one of those things that it's not ok to "cut corners".

At one time, Traction Master offered traction bars for this era of Ford 9" rear axles installed in cars & trucks. The bars were tubular.

I raced a 73 corvette and got beat becuase i couldn't get a lick of traction in 1st and he kept gaining until i said screw it im going to second. i feathered the hell out of it and nothin. i have 3000 stall and anything below 3000 is normal acceleration and 3000 and above breaks the radial T/A's loose an i mean nothin, natta, zip for power to the ground. he got me the first race by a car and i got him the second by a half a car when i just shifted to second quick. so he thinks he is faster and wants to go agian. this time i talked him into some money. so i went out to the local tire and wheel shop got me some aluminum 15X10 wheels for $100 dollars and then after i cleaned up the wheels decided that i liked them i went and scounded up a matching set of 31X15 by 10.5W M/T ET Drag slicks. they fit the wheel well perfect and they grip perfect also they got more the half tread left and they ran me $100 for the pair also. now i got some tires and wheels that are way lighter, stickier, and straight up awsome. after a short burn out i can stall up to 3000 and lay in too it and HOOK HOOK HOOK. i love it and this time i will get 4 cars on him in first and another 4 in second instead of making up 4 cars in second. i guess we will put the money down before he sees my truck. chitty shevy's. and the great thing is if he gets slicks i will still eat him up becuase he already hooks.

Welcome to (FTE)!

Sounds like you are having fun, at some point you will start thinking of going
(Pro-Street). When you start wanting even more traction take a look in my
signature, I have an article here and it can be done on a budget, its very safe
to! No cuttting the frame, no 4-link, no ladder bars. One more thing you are
talking about a 2WD,and not a 4WD right? I saw where you said a "set of
drive shafts," if you are talking 2WD then have a look at the article!

P.S. You are drag racing at a ( Drag strip ) Right? Be safe!

A little searching will even get you plans for making them yourself if you're so inclined. They work great!
