i was putting new upolstery on my seat today and found the original ford order form folded up in the old stuff. thought that was pretty cool. 34 years old and still there...
stuffed into the seat springs is the most common, although not only place you will find them and you will almost always find them. But check the VIN against yours because sometimes the seats have been swapped out at one time or another. actually found a car that must have been restored a couple times that had 3 different build sheets in it for 3 different cars when we went looking (went looking because the motor that was in it didn't fit what we thought should be and turned out it wasn't right)
Great thing is you will look at some of the late 60s early 70s cars those build sheets are sometimes the only way to prove something was built a certian way. Me and a friend actually bought a mercury station wagon one time, he wanted the rear end and I wanted the 429 out of it. upon tearing into it found a 4 bolt main block and a few other oddities turned out o be a cj motor and the build sheet confirmed it was original. Now wish we hadn't parted that one out since a factory original 429 CJ station wagon would definatly qualify as rare and probably be worth a small fortune
i found mine in the seat springs all tattered. i saved all the pieces put them in a sandwich baggy for now. 1978 f-350 140 inch wheel base custom trim 5.8 L (M)
