loose computer plug

i found that the computer plug bolt thats in the center of the plug was loose i was wandering if that would cause a problem with idle because thats the only time it has a problem. 92 f150 5.0 e4od

Computer plug bolt? Are you speaking of the bolt that holds the plastic shield onto the electrical harness on your computer? If thats the bolt, it has no effect on the way the engine runs... I hope you're speaking of another bolt, please me more specific.

So then the bolt I was speaking of is the one you are talking about? If so, just make sure it's tight so your computer harness can't rattle out of the socket. Its highly unlikely if not impossible for this to cause erratic idle.

If the loose bolt causes loose connections, it could cause an erratic idle.

I would imagine that if the harness was coming loose it would be causing much more serious problems than an erratic idle... Such as uhh, NOT RUNNING!

The bolt with a 10mm head that is located in the center of the 60 pin connector threads into the computer. This is what holds the two together. My harness/computer has no other bolt.

If the pins begin to loose connectivity then all kinds of problems can occur.

I meant that I hoped he was speaking of another bolt elsewhere on the engine... Because it seems ludicrous to believe that THAT bolt could cause erratic idle
