Temperature sensor

Anybody have to replace the sensor that makes the engine fast idle, and sends power to the IP to advance the timing? I am looking at the local parts stores online, and they seem to have a sensor/switch, but the pins look different. Mine,(89 f250, 7.3) has flat male spades on the sensor, and females on the plug. The ones at the store seem to have round male pins on the sensor. Mine never fast idles, and I can take a jumper wire and short the connector, and it will fast idle, and can also hear it rattle more from the timing advance.

That connector is known to come off, the wires are rather short.
Also you should have power on one of the female connections when the key is ON.

I have only seen them with spade connectors.

I just looked at several auto parts store webpages.
The temp sensor is not there on any of them.
I think this must be a Ford or International only part.

I should have known it would cost a fortune. When the engine is cold, I am going to check for continuity from spade to spade on the sensor, just to make sure it's not a connection problem. It is kind of hard to get to and plug in. Thanks for the info.

The switch should be closed at temps below 112 degrees, open above that temp.

I have a set of bent nose needle nose pliers that are about a foot long.
You can reach that connector with them.

Any other method means removing parts for me, my hands are a little big though.
