Question Harpoon Mod Question

I'm going to have my fuel tank dropped for some fuel line mods (ITP in-tank mod) and am toying with doing the harpoon mod (cut the two vent lines with a pvc cutter) so my tank will fill up without all the fuss.

My question is if anybody who has done this already has any problem with the diesel spilling out of the filler neck? Some of the stations I fill up at I will see the fuel froth coming up my filler neck when the pump shuts off with the longer vent lines. I would like to do the mod but not if I will spill diesel out of the filler neck every time I fill up.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I cut the tubes on mine without any problems. I also made the filler plug bigger. Now I can use the big rig pumps. It rings up dollars like other stations rings up pennies. The downside I didn't think about is it takes more money to fill it up now since it has more capacity.

I cut both tubes and have had no issues spilling fuel out of the fill tube. It sure makes filling up nice and fast!

Before I did the mod, hte foam you're talking about would shut off the pump and I would trickle in another 4.5-5.5 gallons before I would see fuel coming up the filler neck.

Now that I've done the mod, when the pump clicks off, I can barely get one more gallon trickled in before I see the fuel.

In neither case did I ever have problems with fuel gushing backwards out of the fill-tube.

Now that I am using B20, there is almost ZERO foaming. However, when the pump clicks off, I still have less than one gallon to top off the tank to where I can see the fuel.

no trouble with mine ether..if you haven't started yet...get a pair of ratchet PVC cutter for around 10 bucks..it will make cutting them tubes a lot easer and do a much a cleaner job..

While it is easier to drop the tank, I think you can pull the bed if you wish.

No problem with truck after the mod. Two gallons after auto shut off for fuel to be at base of cap and never a drop sloshed out.

Not a problem. I should have read his signature to see what kind of vehicle he had.

I had a brake line leaking behind the tank, so I had to pull it anyway. So while I was there, might as well work on the tank.
