another CPS?

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 539px; HEIGHT: 114px"><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I am having a stalling problem with my 99 7.3 F-350. The engine will stall under most conditions, although usually after warmed up and rarely under full power. My first CPS failure at 101000 mi. resulted in imediate shut-down with no ability to restart. It was replaced at the dealer and the problem was resolved with another 40000 miles of trouble free service. I have replaced the CPS again with no change in the problem. Sometimes I get a service engine light but usually not. The code I am getting is indicating high injector pressure. Another odd symptom is occasionally a heavy slam of the passenger door will kill the engine.

After reading through this site I see that this is a common problem and an aftermarket CPS (like the one I used) may or may not resolve the issue. I have not tried the new ford replacement yet. Any other ideas before I buy another new CPS?

Slamming the door doesn't indicate a CPS

Moved to the 7.3 forum ...

Sounds like a flaky connection somewhere.
I hate those jobs, a royal PITA to diagnose and repair.

Slamming of the pax door is probably jarring a connection on the fuel pump shut off switch. Look behind pax side kick panel and make sure said switch does not have a loose connection.

Brandon, Thanks for the info. Is this the infamous 'rollover switch'? Could the switch itself be going bad?

Yes that is the one. Maybe, but I would not think very likely

I would be surprised if the rollover switch would be the culprit.
On these powerstrokes, killing the fuel pump will not kill the engine immediately like slamming the door is doing. It will run for quite a while on the residual fuel left in the cylinder head rails. (personal experience speaking)
I realize that the location of the switch next to the door points to that, but my understanding of how the engine is designed leads me to not really suspect the rollover switch, but rather more suspicious of something electrical losing power, like maybe the IDM relay or something like that.

Thanks for all the information guys! Between changing out the freeze plugs on the 64 chevy pu, troubleshooting my son's tourque-flight trans blowing fluid in my driveway.. Oh, and work, I probably won't get a chance to check out the Ford Until the weekend!
I'll post how this works out. thanks again.

This problem just gave me fit's for a few weeks, so by removing the valve covers and fixing made the difference. I too did the CPS and GPR for good measure but the UVC was the culprit. Not a hard job just time consuming but I did do glow plugs and and a foil delete while I was there. As usual FTE was a great help.
