Need some help. Just installed my 4" MBRP Turbo back system and now I have a rattle that I can feel under the driver's side floor board. More noticable at slower speeds and turning to the left. Was sure it was not due to the exhaust so I took it to the dealer who at first glance thought it might be a loose heat shield. After further examination they are blamming it on "after market exhaust drone at low speeds." They suggested exhaust vibration dampners. Whats the scoop? Is there such a thing as a vibration dampner and has anyone had any similar experience with this? Thanks!
Mine was doing the same thing after install. It was rattling on the Transmission crossmember. Just loosen up the clamps re adjust and tighten back tighter.
I have a 4 " MBRP and after taking it in for a turbo replacement I got a vibration also. Got under the truck and found the down pipe rubbing on the frame. Just made an adjustment now it is all good.
I installed my MBRP 4" turbo back and had the rattle too. It ended up being one of the metal hangers. I had to take a sawzall and cut about an inch off of the rod that goes into the rubber grommet. Go under your truck when cool, grab the pipe and move it all around until you locate where it is hitting. I am pretty confident you have what I had.
Just did mine with mbrp last weekend too, and ended up with a rattle when at idle. On mine, the clamp that holds the two piece downpipe toegether was just barely touching the heatshield on the firewall. This heat shield isn't fastened tight (at least on mine) and so it would vibrate and cause the noise. Just had to turn the clamp a little...

I realize that I have a 7.3, but the exhausts are very similar, that out of the way, mine had this same problem. Also, just after bottom bend of the down pipe, above there are some extra long screws that hang down, (I think for a heat shield) I had to cut them off too.
Huh, I am noticing a pattern here. Mine was doing it to. It was the hanger clamp right behind the cat on mine. Loosened the clamp and rotated it just a bit and retightened and problem solved. I found it while the truck was on a lift. If i tapped the exhaust to make it move I could hear it hit. Looked around and that is what I found. It is very annoying when rolling through a parking lot or sitting at a stop light.
Thanks everyone for the great tips. Im lazy as well and I just need a little kick in the pants to get under the truck and look around and see what is going on. With what everyone has said I have a feeling it is going to be exactly the same.
I want to thank eveyone who responded. I finally got off my rear and got under my truck. It helped that it was in the 60's today and not the 40's. Anyway, I saw that the hanger on the stock CAT would hit the frame if I moved it at all. So far that is the only thing I could see. Hopefully when I get my CAT delete pipe it will be a different hanger and I wont have to worry about it. Thanks again to all that responded.
My MBRP did not rattle until last week when i put the new turbo on, it must have moved it just a bit, and now it rattles a bit against the frame, and mostly when i turn left also !!
i have tracked it down the the hanger clamp under the passenger seat right about where the cat used to go, the hanger piece is about 4" too long and hits the frame, i just need to pull it down and cut a few inches off of it and i will be golden
