Rocks have 6.72 gears... You'll be able to turn the tires pretty easily, but, depending on the tires, and if you want to crawl, or make them work in mud. Most mud tires, to work properly, require one thing, wheel speed, and lots of it. With 48's, you may not have enough rpm available in the tallest gear that allows you to easily get the tires turning.
With 35's, 3.55's, and a T19, running 2nd and 3rd high range, I was spinning my 460 in the 6K range to be competitive racing....

Be warned in advance these are some unbelievably heavy axles. I bought a pair years ago for a project that never got started. Any time I move them I have to use the cherry picker just to lift them up and that is after I yanked the drums and backing plates. I think they are in the realm of 1100 lbs each without brakes at the wheels. Unsprung weight is a very nasty thing to deal with. If my memory serves me even on a light steel rim 48s weigh almost 200 pounds each. Road manners would also go right out the window. I suggest contacting Boyce Equipment as they are the gurus of the Rockwell conversion
