240 with 300 crank
A friend of mine told me that i can put a 300 crank in my 240 and essentially make a stroked 240...is this true(he isnt exactly ford inline six guru)?????It kinda makes sense...alot of the parts you buy say they are for a 240/300......i know i aint right in the head for wanting to build up a 240 to begin with,but lemme know what you think...just dont tell me how retarded i probably really am....thanks for the help...

forgot to add....it is a 66 240,never been torn apart,plan to do a rebuild and was hoping to hop up the performance a little....most people around here say you cvant make power with a strait six,and i am the kind of guy that if you say i cant,i will,lol....any suggestion on how to make power would be greatly appreciated...thanks again....

i cant answer that but i can probally point you in the right direction. try seaching for a sight along the lines of fordsix.com or something like that. its a bunch of straight six gurus that make some major power from the old six. i think ur engine is more highly used on this sight than the 300.

The 240 and 300 are the same engine, only difference is the crank, rods, pistons, and in some of the early engines, the 240 head has smaller combustion chambers. Many 300's have been built with a 240 block, and, I'm planning on building a race 240(think 320M cam) with a 300 block. If you were to use the 240 rods with the 300 crank, you will need different pistons, but, we have that figured out.... Have a look at the Big Block Six forum over at http://www.fordsix.com
