Modules-Chips-Programmers

what is the differnece between these? They all seem to do the same thing, so does anyone render the others obsolete or can they be used in conjunction with each other?

and when you change the computer setting does it create any extra wear and tear on the engine or tranny?

Thanks

They all accomplish the same thing. If you want one for your X look at DP Tuner. They seem to have the best handle on tuning 7.3s.

Everybody has their preference, but I would suggest spending some time on the 7.3 forums before spending any money. You brought up an interesting question about the tranny wear / tear with a programmer...this is where you really want to do your homework.

Personally, for me it's always been the tunes from Innovative Diesel that I've used on my 6.0 because of the engine tuning and tranny changes to keep everything within the safe zone. But I'll say this, I have 2 7.3 friends, an '00 X and '02 X...both are on their 2nd transmissions (less than 120k miles) because they played around with some junk programmers over the years.

Sorry, I'm COMPLETELY biased, but if you have a 7.3, don't even THINK of getting any custom tunes that don't come from Jody at DP-Tuner.

I have his F5 chip and with his tunes, my wife's Excursion freaking flat out wails.
