Disc Brake Combination Valve
Getting ready for new disc`s on the front of my `56 F-100.
Got a question. Has anyone that has already installed disc`s
installed a combination valve? If so, is it working successfully
and what is it out of? By the way, as info I`m putting a
`80 corvette master cylinder in with a 1 and 1/8 in. bore
under the floor in original position. No power assist.
Thanks for your help..

I installed discs on the front of my 49. My MC and power booster are mounted on the firewall. My MC is an early 80's Caddy unit, power booster is a late 90's Ford. Yes, I installed a proportioning valve.
One day at the pull apart yard I snagged a proportioning valve off of an early 70's Buick midsized car (Skylark maybe). I figured the midsized GM cars were similar in weight to my truck.
So far so good on my brakes, I have a couple thousand miles on the truck now and the brakes feel fine.
I think with the MC mounted under the floor you need to install residual valves in the system. I think there is some decent tech articles on these sites;

Good luck

I may have it wrong but my understanding is that a "combination valve"
takes the place of proportioning valves and various other valves that
are normally used. I guess newer cars have them as they were designed
to cut mfg. costs and have been very successful. Thanks for the mention
of the tech article links.
ghall - Thanks for the input. Was wondering if your combination valve has
a part no.? If it has, and you can see it, write it down and let me know
what it is. Don't bother if you cant see a no. Thanks
Gary
I have no idea. I don't know the difference between a proportioning valve and a combo valve. Thankfully I am beyond that point of my build. Whatever research I did back when I was putting it all together must have fallen victim the "killing off of brain cells"
Good luck with it

i used the entire front disc power brake conversion for my 56 f-100
I just looked again at your gallery. I didn`t realize how much engineering and outright work you have put in your F-1. When I read all you have done (in the gallery)
I am amazed. You can and should be very proud. It`s to bad these projects never seem to end. (Always something new to add, change, or modify.)
Are you going to paint it or keep it like it is for conversation reasons. Anyway I
love what you have done to it so far.
Gary
Thanks ghall. Much appreciated

Thanks for the kind words. I might paint it evenutally....someday.....
This truck is pretty much a test bed. I'm learning how to do all sorts of things that a few years ago I wouldn't have dreamed of trying. My attitude now is that the only difference between us and the paid professionals is experience and the correct tools. I figure I can do anything they can (although usually by the time I get good at it I have the evidence of the learning curve and the mistakes on my truck....lol).
Its all fun....most of the time
