I finally got the 347 tuned and running pretty good in my 93 ford F150. Like clockwork it looks like the right head is leaking anti-freeze after 6000 miles. It pretty much sucks i just had the intake off to change a bad lifter. I even went the extra mile and had the head resurfaced, used ARP head studs, and felpro gaksets. I have never had a head gasket ever leak that i have changed up to this point. I guess i'll retorque the bolts and toss a couple of those sealing tablets and hope for the best. Its getting darn cold to be pulling heads.
if the lower holes go into water you should always use a thread sealer on them.....with the cooling system full, pull a lower stud and see if any water comes out. if you do get water drain the system and seal one stud at a time. I use Felpro thread sealer...never a problem...
the lower bolts do go into the water jacket. i used sealer on all the bolts. i looked over the intake in the front and cant see anything, the only thing i can see is at the forward corner of the block.
After further review its looking like a intake or the thermostat housing. I knew when i installed the intake it was looking a bit pitted and corroded, so i cleaned it up and added silicone all the way around all the water ports. i guess i may have to beak down and dig up a low mile used one or get this one welded and milled back down
shuttle, I used JB Weld to repair a leaking t-stat housing on an old Edelbrock Torker once, it worked fine for the year I had it. I also built up the carb base with it, you can file it by hand.
Not exactly the best way, but if it works?? A lot cheaper!!!!
