The 1969 F100 (shortbed) have motor and 3 speed on it. It still at junkyard want sell $500. I was plan to buy it. And do restored and built up as hotrod but want drive daily (street n strip) around 400-450 hp I want to goal. I really dont know what size of motor on it. It is all VERY OGRINAIL.. TO see if you can give me some idea what best size motor to set up for 400-450 hp. I like to run big 4 barrel not fuel injection. The engine if it is 302 what best to set up like 306,331, 351 or any number of stroker either I want all forged...
Which is best transmission to set up like C-4 or AOD? what stall set up for torque converter also the gears for drive daily and want for (street/strip) I have really no idea what the best to do project. I just want to built myself with my first project and powerful as muscle truck. Is the rearend is 9in?
I really hope get info from this site quick. I just want to do right thing do project at once.
It would be a lot easier to get the HP and high torque from a 390 (FE) engine. I don't see a C4 taking that kind of HP, a C6 can easily if your wanting to go with a automatic. 360 were common in PU in the 67-72 models, as well as 390's.
If the body is clean of rust it's well worth the price. Even without a motor.
easy answer go 429/460 with a c-6 its a very easy swap and 500hp is very obtainable and streetable.parts are cheaper and easyer to find then the fe's, dont get me wrong fe's are great engines but the amount of parts availabe for the 429/460 makes it a simple choice

I always want 429 but it kinda expensive? I though 460 would be a little heavy on truck for street/strip? What do you mean streetable.parts? you mean on website? I not see that. Can you tell me what FE mean? I am new with this words lol.
Why different small and big block. I really need to know which one. If 428 is cheap. I would buy it. But What do with engine on 69 truck not sure about size engine. If can bored to 428 with rotating assembly. If its to much cost, then do it with 390. I have so much hell confused with size of engine who want to change to bigger. Also fe, ft series and y- block. I thought small block way much easier to do. But If its long block is good make huge power then I would need to know exactly correct quick instead not get more thread this site.

If you find a 360, it can be rebuilt as a 360 all the way to a 410 with out having to increase the bore, just increase the stroke. I had this done with the 360 (now 390) that I have in my '70 F250 4X4. The FE is a great engine, tough as hell, and can be modified in many different ways. Well I am trying to learn damn this FE. You say 360 to 410 will able to make 400-450 hp on street/strip? How able I check on engine which the size it is? It would NEED to bored! Bec worn out of mileage and been sitting for many years. Does FE easy find any parts like eldbrock intake, cams etc will work on FE? WHere able I see (big block ford engine by steve)?
I agree with all of the guy, and all things considered torque is king but the small blocks seem to be cheaper parts wise, a 351 winsor could be what your looking for (most bang for buck) can be pushed to 427ci but then that will cost you
a 429 and 460 are the same exact size physicaly. same mounts, bell housing,every thing the only difference is the crank and pistons they even use the same conecting rods. both can be had for less then 500 bucks as cores to be rebiult. i have a shed full of 429/460's i think the most expensive one cost me $175 most of them run too,well they did when i put'em in there. you also asked about being streetalbe well if ya have to biuld something so wild that it take 118 octane gas and has such a radical cam it wont be easy to drive on the street. just the 118 octane feul cost ya like 6 bucks a gal and if your runin around town with something that dont like to idle under 3000rpms you could keep fowlin plugs over heatin ect. where as the big cubes the easyer it is to make street power something that can be driven on plain ol 93 octane thats at every gas station and it'll run cool enuff to cruse town with. think about if ya got 460 and stroked it out to 521 inch what kinda stuff ya could do with it,every thing from pullin stumps to blowin a set tires off the rear

Why would you think I would want bigger 521 I think to much and more heavy. I want middle light and heavy, Any size that able to make 400-450 hp with n/a motor? maybe 429?
Remember I want make sure yall to know that im look for motor that can do driver dailey (STREET/STRIP) run with 93 ontace only.
