really?! I never would have guessed that. So i take it it gets this information from the temperature sender on the thermostat housing? I always thought that was simply for the guage in the cab. So if my sender was not hooked up it would not advance the timing?
I think the MAP sensor supplies most of the info for it to determine timing. Your truck actually has two temperature senders. The one at the thermostat housing goes to the computer, and there's one in the head way in back on the passenger side that goes to the temperature guage.

well....that would explain a few things. My temperature sender at the thermostat housing has been cut (why, I don't know). Since my temp guage never works...I just assumed that was the reason. I suppose I better fix that. Also...where exactly is the MAP sensor?
