No I didnt use any teflon tape on the sender.I have taken all the wiring loose that i put on and have redone to make sure that it has a good connection.I have also noticed something wierd about the plug on the sending unit on the trans. When it is plugged in I can still pull it apart some. Will give diesel manor a call in a little while and see what they think.
Well everyone that raved about diesel manor....I have got to agree with you.I talked to the tech support and they said it was the amplifier box and are sending a complete new gauge setup.Sender ,amplifier and gauge. That is what i call great customer service.Should be here in a week ,I'll let you know how it works.
I have to say that is great to hear. I have had great experiences with DM in the past and had hoped that they hadn't lost a bit of their customer service.
My tranny gauge started acting up the past couple days also. It used to go to about 130 deg within about 30 sec, and read about 160 when cruising at 60 mph. Now it takes 5 minutes to come off zero and never goes over about 110. Haven't had a chance to investigate though. And I still haven't got my pyro working correctly. Yesterday, I disconnected the pyro probe completely so that the wires from it to the amp were not connected to anything. Though I expected the gauge not to respond at all, it acted exactly the same! That is, after 10 minutes of driving the gauge came off zero, and 40 minutes later was reading 300 deg! And this is with one of the replacement amps they sent me. I still have another amp I need to try which I actually bench tested.
I don't think a hair dryer will get hot enough but I'm not 100% sure. I used a heat gun (a hair dryer on steroids). You can get them from any home improvement store for @ $25 or so. Just don't put it on the high setting. They sell the shrink wrap material in the electrical connections section or auto parts store.
No hair dryer I know will. I use a lighter when I don't have a heat gun handy. Usually works just fine -- just don't leave it in the flame too long for obvious reasons...
