I had the option yesterday of having a backup camera installed with my Pioneer double din NAV system. I am now regretting that I turned it down. I would have had a hundred bucks off the total price of the camera and install fee. I had not even thought about using it to backup to my trailer. I think I was just more interested in the NAV feature!
I never backed up to a trailer with a ball and stopped at the exact spot in my life, well until I bot my 2008 with the back up camera. Done it several times now. When you get a back up camera, you will understand.
Got a friend that priced this for a job 1 truck and the dealer wanted over $800 to do it. He went to Costco and bought a system ($89 I think) and he put the small screen in the overhead console. Got another friend that is going to get the same model and put the camera in his bed because he only tows G/N trailers.
I can't access the links for the wiring diagrams either. Is there a difference in the 08 and 09 Nav units? I believe the 09 Nav does have a camera input. I bought an aftermarket device from PAC Audio to give my GM Nav unit a camera input but they don't show one for Ford.
I know this is an old thread but I found it while searching for some information on some connectors. Anyway, I thought you guys might appreciate the backup camera setup I have on my 2008 Job1 King Ranch.
This is a four camera system with a standard backup camera on the tailgate of the truck, a front camera to aid in nose in parking, a camera inside a trailer and finally a camera on the rear of the trailer. The camera inside the trailer will allows me to see my load while driving to be sure nothing has shifted or if you are hauling livestock (ie. horses) you can check on their well being. The trailer's back camera provides the same features as a normal backup camera on the truck (displays automatically when the truck is shifted into reverse) but it shows the view behind the trailer since the view behind the truck itself is of little value when backing a trailer.
I installed a T-View (Pyle) 10.2" Screen and backup camera on my truck. Took about 45 minutes.
The screen clips onto your mirror, and has a night-mode type reflectivity when the LCD is off. Works fine for me as a mirror driving on the highway, and checking that the trailer is still there...
I hid the wiring down the left pillar and fed under the dash. It has two video inputs, and when you put 12V on the signal wire it turns the LCD on and switches to input 2 for you.
I ran a 14awg wire and a 25ft composite cable from the cab to the camera. I powered the camera from the trailer wiring harness running lights and wired the signal wire to the trailers backup light pin. I wired the camera into the trailer connector so that if it shorts or dies my truck isn't affected, just the trailer.

Your front camera reminded me that the F-150 syltyle was like that. I managed to find one on eBay for a decent price and it is being shipped to me today.
Now to find a rearview mirror (OEM style) to pair with it. I'm looking for a OEM Nav system as well now. I've had aftermarket decks and just don't like them. The factory radios work better for me.
now that is awesome. got a write-up on how you modified the Nav system to accept 4 cameras? and how you modified that switch
Well, I dont know if I could actually do a full write up. Part of the setup is a custom cicuit I built to manage the cameras. If you want more information you can check out my threads on the powerstroke.org forum. Just look for threads by me (same user id as here) in the 6.4 electronics forum. You can also PM me there (I haven't posted enough here to have PM feature yet).

Write-up for that custom video signal please
Be aware that the OEM F150 tailgate camera is a backup camera. As such it produces a reversed image (appropriate for a backup camera but backwards when used for front view). You will need to insert electronics in the video line to reverse the image.

I'll head over there and do some reading. Thanks

thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to use the Blue Oval emblem camera for the tailgate. Plan on mounting it directly below the tailgate handle. It looks better than all the other options, and since my 2006 can't use the 08+ handle cameras, it's a nice compromise. Plus, nothing wrong with an extra Emblem on the tailgate. Gotta represent with all the Tundra's and Mopars out here
I'll get a custom cover for the small emblem on the lower right of the tailgate

I'm buying a 2008+ F-150 or Expy rear-view mirror. They run about $200 brand new on eBay right now.
I have the system in my Expy and it is badass. It works so good that I'm dying to put it into the truck. Plan on putting a toggle switch so I can veiw out back while cruising down the road. At some point I'll have the money to pick up a OEM Nav radio and unlock it
