Got the three bolts out on the rear of cooler, then got the bottom bolt out on the front of cooler. Man I'm I glad I got the top bolt on the front of cooler from the topside of the engine. As soon as I got it out of it's last thread coolant went everywhere! I drained the coolant yesterday and obviously didn't get it all!! After yesterdays oil spill and now the coolant I had to do a big rinse job with the hose. So now I'll have to wait for it all to dry so I can continue.
I also ruined my oil filter which was under the truck covered with a thin towel. The coolant infected it also.
I think I know the answer to this, but the wife is going to the store and Advanced auto is right next ot it. Do they carry and acceptable oil filter for my truck?
There shouldn't have been much in the cooler itself...
Advance should be able to cross the oil filter....
I called Advanced and they carry Motocraft and 1 left for my engine. There was at least 1/2 gallon of coolant and I forgot about 1/3 qt. of oil. My poor drive way is screwed up! I put oil dry on it immedtiately but it still makes a gross spot. Any tricks to getting oil off white concrete?

.....commercial concrete cleaner ,,, works very well
I did mine the same way you did, didn't have much of anything in it,, I gather it missed the drain pan....
Thanks, mine is pretty dirtyso I guess I need to clean it up best as I can. Then I guess I start tapping with a dead blow hammer to get it apart? But first make marks so I can align back together correctly, right? Also, can I just put a little silicone on the gaskets and stick them in place first so they will be there when I put the cooler back on.

Alignment marks Are not that important , the two headers need to be aligned with each other so the two flanged mount properly to the engine surface,, If you lay it on a clean flat surface , you will be able to tell if they are aligned ..I would measure the length of the unit ,to insure the bolt holes line up at install,, you can try the alignment first ,before you install the new gaskets, to be sure.
Don,t use silicone ,,,,It can clog up many things in the engine Don't use it on the gaskets either ,,STP oil treatment is O K , motor oil , or even grease , NO SILICONE.......
I have the oil cooler apart, cleaned and new o-rings installed but can't get it back together. Are there any tricks to doing this? I weigh about 210 pds. and all my weight pushing straight down won't get into place. Any help, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
