My power window switch broke Tuesday with the window down. Of course it was 35 deg and raining. I stopped by the dealership and they didn't have any in stock (no surprise) so they ordered one and told me I would have it Wednesday. I went home took out the switch, shorted across the terminals and got the window back up. Went to the dealership Wednesday, they ordered a switch for a F150 now I can't get one till Monday.
This is like the fifth time this has happened to me. I need to get a part time job as a parts guy, then maybe I'll get the right parts.
Good lawd....the fifth time the switch has failed! Is it always the same switch (I assume it is the drivers door)? If it is always the same switch, have you ever disassembled the failed switch to find the cause of said failure? My 2000 Volvo V70XC has a similar problem because the switch design sucks...Funny though, the switchs in my 1999 PSD are all original! Go figure!
I just replaced the "auto" window switch on the driver's side on my truck. The stealership wanted approx. $120 and I ordered it from fordparts.com and received it thru the USPS very promptly. I think it is Gene there and he does a nice job of helping folks out. Plus his price was approx. $60. I could not find it in their parts break-down windows and had to e-mail him for the part number.
