Sounds like FE perches on a small block application.
The perches are stamped to retain the rear face of the block in the same position for all ford engines. That way the clutch piviot is always in the correct spot. Kind of moot if using an automatic. But it substiantiates my point.
Bet they also had to drill new holes for the trans mount and the drive shafts a little tight tot he seal.
