Question Thread in head studs, are they re-useable?

Since I am faced with the prospect of having to pull the heads off my 6.9, I was pondering the use of some stronger clamping force for the heads. But since I can forsee rebuilding this engine eventually, I was wondering if I can re-use the expencive bolts later on after they have already been in service.

unless they are torque to yield yes you can. I have been using arp head studs in my race engines for years tear them down at least once a year and reuse the head and main studs over and over.

That's a big part of the appeal of studs! You can pretty much use them as many times as you want. But they also clamp better than regular head bolts and torque a lot more evenly.

I put head studs in my 2.3L and would probably use them on any boosted engine.
