I've noticed these trickling onto E-Bay,,at prices of $30-50+ dollars. You can go straight to Amazon and get them for $20.00.Guess there will be fewer opportunists (read:"gougers") asking for the hundred plus dollars I've seen them asking in the past.Steve
ibuzzard---thanks man!! I need a book, and did not want to pay 50.00 for it. I also want to apologies for ranting the other day about the browns and football in general. To each their own--I guess. I am not totally strange. LOL Bill
they will still be on ebay for years to come.dennis carpenter had them till about a year ago for 18.00.they were going for as much as 100.on ebay at the same time.i wonder how many were coming straight from carpenter.
ok. i got a question. i have heard several on here say that that y-block book was a poor book of reference for the for y-block motors, why ramp an ravfe the reprinting of this book????? if i remember correctly, the guy who oes the y-block magazine, is doing a book on y-blocks. if i remember correctly. so take how you will.
I personally have never seen the inside of this y-block book, but heard it was great, and informative. John Mummert is the yblock expert,I think you are speaking of. I would think he would be the man to ask about yblocks. Also a member on the 48-60 site is bigwin56f100,and he is surely a good person to ask, since he has been working on these engines and collects them. I hope this yblock book is good,as I bought 1 and should have it for Christmas.
I got myself a copy too. Very informative, but the print quality on the photos is pretty bad. Looks like the quickie xeroxes we used to get in grade school.
kOOPER---ARE you serious? That stinks! I was under the impression that that photos were very informative and --does it mention anything about oiling problems to the rocker shafts? I will have 4 yblocks soon, and need to study them.
Kooper -I liked watching you and your Dad install the yblock in your truck, when you sent the pics......cool!!! Bill
I've only skimmed through the book once ... I can't remember if it mentioned rocker oiling. I think it mentioned the common mistake of bolting down the rocker shafts upside down. If your block & heads were hot-tanked, you have the right combination of cam journal & bearings, and you make sure to avoid that mistake, your rocker oiling should be fine. I'm getting real good oil to my rockers.
I received my yblock book and kooper was correct!! The photos are crap!! I am dissapointed and cannot distinguish the yblock areas they are working on in the book. Someone copied these on a pisspoor copier and made a book out of it.
I am wondering if there is a better book? Is Mummert publishing a yblock book? I think the wording is informative, but I need pictures!!! LOL
I got it for 25.00 delivered and thank God I didn't pay an inflated price on ebay
I agree!! I always check shipping and research best I can---I am cheap!! Anyhow--I was told by Kooper the pics were terrible, and was too late -but this was on amazon.com ,and not ebay, and by a publisher that should be told-off about this. I think the book is informative ,but the pics suck--and warning to anyone buying it.
Does Mummert have a yblock book out? He seems to be the expert, and his website is great. Bill
I posted a while back that we were clearing out the warehouse and anyone could call if they needed anything. No one took me up on the offer and I didn't have the time or desire to Ebay them. I threw out about $1500 of new books, including several Y-block books (and several of the Steve Christ FE books), the Ford Truck Red book, shop manuals, wiring diagrams, owners manuals, etc. Damn shame but what am I to do, store them for years? Easier to toss them as unsaleable inventory and write them off on my taxes!
