SD Back Up Camera...

OK guys...I've been looking to put a reverse camera in my '05 Excursion, but have not been happy with having a monitor on the dash, on the visor, or a clip on...which is all I have been able to find.

I'd like to fit the rear view mirror from an 08 SD (dealer says they are available), and I'd like to use an aftermarket camera.

Here's the trouble. I am wondering if an aftermarket camera would work with tihs mirror, and what the pin out would be on the mirror to hook it up. I'm not afraid of the work...I'm more afraid of buying a VERY expensive mirror if I can't make it work.

depending on the cost of the mirror you could go with an in dash navigation/dvd unit. I just bought a Pioneer AVIC-D3 for $700 and a camera should run you about another $100 or so.

If that's too much for you, just go to your local dealer and ask to see the mirror and maybe the harness to it.

You can also get aftermarket rearview mirrors with a built in monitor, just check ebay

Thanks guys...trouble is...every one of the aftermarket mirrors I have found are universal clip-on units...and I'd really like it to look more "factory" than that.

I'd really like some help on how to get a pin-out or more info on how the 08 mirror works.
