Not very productive day...

Was hoping to get my oil cooler at least out today, I didn't even get to loosen the bolts! I did install my new Thermostat neck housing. then when I was taking off my almost new oil filter it slipped out of my hand and fell on the drive promptly spilling at least a quart of oil on my nice white drive. I quickly dumped a bunch of oil dry on it. On top of all this it was really cold and my hands kept freezing up! I kept having to stop and come in cause the wifey ain't feeling too good and we have two little ones.

O.K. I noticed what looked like 4 bolts on the rear of the oil cooler and two on the front, is that right? How in the heck do you reach the top bolt on the front of the oil cooler?

Anyone have any pics of the oil cooler bolts while it's in place?

Three on the back & two on the front....the two on the front were accessed by a long extention & a spring loaded swivel socket ... Off is easy .....

Also regarding the oil cooler--what is the big thing that is screwed into the side? Is it the block heater element? I assume it needs to come out to get the cooler all the way out?

So there is a big nut on the block heater, do I just unscrew this out of the oil cooler? It looks like it's never been removed ever, what should I expect?

Is your cooler leaking too? I just got all the seals in to fix mine, And the new tstat housing and it started snowing. I just put a bottle of prestone radiator sealer in it and said screw it till spring. It's not leaking now!

I hate using that stuff but I'll watch it and make sure I flush it out real good in the spring.
