About three weeks ago I had to install a new thermostat. The first problem I had was coolent overflowing out of the resevoir. I then had it professionally flushed, new resevoir cap installed, and a second thermostat put in. I'm still having problems with the coolent overflowing out of the resevoir, and my temp guage reads cold, then jumps to hot, then back down to normal temp leading me to believe it has an air pocket.
My question is: How do I bleed the system of air in a sealed system?
I appreciate everyone's help. Please let me know ASAP.
Thanks, Erik Baxter.
try squeezing the top radiator hose with your hand with the resovoir cap offand a warm engine, turnthe heat setting inside the truck full blast then replace cap thats how i did my 98150.im sure somebody out here has a better way but thats what worked for me.is your water pump ok ? you can check it by looking at the weephole,if waters coming out that could also cause a problem.hope this helps.good luck
At work we have a vacuum system that we can use. We drain the coolant, then attach this vacuum aparatus(I've never used it, our diesel tech uses it). He sucks a vacuum on the system then lets the vacuum suck the coolant in leaving no air pockets. I don't even remember how the things hooks up, i just know we have one....
