bad starter?
I have a '94 150 with a 4.9 manual trans, a year old battery and new alternator. The problem started a month ago when every other time I went to start it the starter would grind a little. Then when i would try to start it the sarter would do nothing until I hit it with a hammer a few times and it would start. Now in the past few days it makes no attempt to start no matter how i hit it with the hammer. I would say its locked up and just get a new starter but also in the past few days the door chime only works sometimes as does the radio and instrument panel when the key is turned to the on position. I've checked the battery cables and their connections, solenoid wiring, etc. Any help would be appreciated before I spend a $110 on a starter

Dont hit the newer starters with hammer the mags r glued in. I can get rebuilt locally for like$75 bucks was 123 for starter and alt. check you local rebuild shops They will give u better idea whats wrong. . Later
