I'd like to know the right use of my C6. I will start racing quarter mile races against similar trucks, but I want to know how to use my C6. I have no idea whatsoever about racing with an automatic transmission. Can you tell me the right steps. (shifting, manually, rev before shifting... everything)
Thanks
Really? But it does take a long time to go from 2nd to 3rd while I'm stepping on it. Once I reved the truck in neutral by mistake and when I entered D while I was still accelerating it, it smoked tires and all.
How do the other guys race then?
If you're bracket racing, your ET's will be more consistant if you keep the trans in D and let it shift itself. Doing neutral drops will allow it to leave hard, but it is extremely stressful on the transmission and driveline; that's how you snap axles and/or driveshafts.
When your truck is staged and ready, give it a little gas to load the converter up but make sure you're on the brakes hard so it doesn't roll prematurely. When you see the last yellow light illuminate, release the brake nail the gas to the floor. If you find that the tires spin excessively, then you may need to gradually roll into the throttle when you go to keep tire spin to a minimum.
Very very interesting Blurry94, and useful to know as well. I kind of imagined something like that may have happened by doing neutral drops. Thanks for corroborating it and the interesting tips.
