I have a 92 F-150 Custom 4X4, does anyone know what the factory Alt AMP Rating is? Recently my alt went for the 5th time in year and a half. I have been replacing them with alternators from NAPA, and this time I figured I would go somewhere else. Well I figured an alt from the local Ford dealer would be the way to go, but they couldn't tell me what I needed. They offered me a 65, 75 or 80 AMP alt. When I asked if they would fit, they told me they didn't know. It just so happened that day I was calling around I got the new LMC Catalogue in the mail. I bought the 100 AMP, one wire Alt from LMC. I was wondering what the orginal AMP rating was just to know for sure if I made an improvement or not. Any help would be appreicated.
Thanks for the quick reply. That is the info I needed. I have the 6 cyl with A/C and nothing else. Hopefully I won't have anymore problems. Thanks again
For alternators I just get the lifetime guaranteed ones from Kragen or Autozone etc.. and keep the reciept with the registration (I tend to lose them otherwise)
