Okay, here's my idea for those of us who do not have clearance lights and don't want to drill holes in the roof of the cab. What if I mount bulbs inside the cab at the top edge of the windshield in clearance light configuration (i.e. three in the middle, two at the outer edges? I would have to fabricate a housing for them so there's no reflected light from the glass of course. They would look like the third brake light housings you see inside the rear glass of cars but mounted behind the front glass of the truck and high up at the top edge.
What do you think? Awesome/good/bad/incredibly stupid idea?
I kind of wonder if it wouldn't get you in trouble with the police. Restricted view. I know in Minnesota they can pull you over if you even have something hanging for the rear view mirror.

or even a sticker on the top of the windshield. Depending on your state you may be ok. It may also be a distarction to you driving at night. I know in MN they don't allow any lights above the glass in the windows or windshield. All though I'm not sure about amber or clear that may be ok. Best I can tell you is make sure you check your local regulations so that you don't violate any thing. You may want to read through MN laws here.
It's an interesting idea, but consider that this is one of the few times that drilling holes in your truck body will not detract from the value of your truck, unless you screw it up badly.
Personally i would just drill the hole and get it over with. i personally do not think it would look right the way you are talking about having it done.
You could always get South Dakota plates if you wanted to do something drastic, one of my friends got them, all you have to do is buy a P.O. Box and you can get South Dakota plates. Their also way cheaper than MN plates, the P.O. Box is like $180 a year though. I noticed the MN chapter in you profile that's why I sent you the MN laws.
I vote with redford.....if you want the marker lights, just go ahead and do it right the first time. You won't hurt the value of the truck (unless like Stu mentioned, you make a mess of it) by installing the lights on the exterior.
What is the point of clearance lights that are not on the highest part of the vehicle? why would you rather mess up the interior than put on the correct lights? Why not go to jc whitney and get a "mexican visor" or what ever you call the shades you hang on the front of your truck? Heck you could even buy a matching one for the back so pedro, peppi and juan dont get wet when it rains.
If I'm not mistaken, this type of visor with these clearance lights actually came stock on the Platinum Edition F-250. I know the one the dude has here in our parking lot has one like that. Of course, that one is done at the factory and looks much better than the add-on thing from pickupspecialties or JC Whitney!
