So I have decided to buy the Rough Country lift. I am still concerned about the truck being level in the end but I figure if the back is high I will just cut the lift blocks down. So my questions are: Is cutting the lift blocks down to lower the back end even possible? Also I looked up the trucks ratio and it turns out to be 3.55 I was thinking it was lower. Do you guys think that going up to 6 inchs of lift with 35s would be too much for the truck and also doing it with blocks. Its 95 150 with a strait 6.
You can't cut down a block. You would have to get a diffrent one. I ran 36's with 3.55's. This was with a 5 speed. Now that I have 4.56's it is twice the truck. Ov course I an now running a slightly built 351w instead of a tired 200k 302.
when my 96 f150 still was that size.....i actually liked the 3.55's better than the 4.10's.....i know it dont make sense.....with the straight six i thought that 4.10s would get me bogging in 2nd gear (2wd)....but still didn't have the power...so i still had to bog in first and less wheelspeed....so i then couldn't do as good of donuts.....its a matter of personal preference...
oh and buy the right size blocks or get a leveling kit in the front to make it tallers....
Like they said, don't cut blocks.
Don't stack blocks, and try not to use a 6" block(axle wrap heaven)!
Rough Country is a low quality lift(their springs any way), and more than likely they will start to sag on you over a few months, and they give a harsh ride.
For gears....... I used my 36.8" tires and 3.55 gears for a while, and when I went of road, I put it in Lo (mine is 2:1)(yours would be 2.89:1 or something like that). I didn't quite have the wheel speed I wanted, but with enough skinny pedal it'd do ok, and wasn't tooooo bad.
But w/ 4.56 gears it made a world of difference.
Question is: Is it worth $1200 + for a gear change to you?
Deffinitly not the truck is too old or should I say has too much rust to put that much money into it. I think I will just go with the 4 inch kit and a 33s. I think I am going to contact ruff country and see if I can just by the hardware to do the front end and then buy another set of Skyjacker coils and rancho shocks. I bought the Skyjacker springs and Ranchos to level it out a while back and they seem to ride pretty decent.
That sounds like one good combination.
Wouldn't need to regear.... not to big of a lift to cause binding(driveshafts, etc), easy, cheaper, less chance of breaking.
The Skyjacker coils would be good( www.broncograveyard.com also has some good coils... they are made by deaver spring, and they call them their supper flex coils, they give a great ride with a lot of flex, don't sag, and they're only about $20 more then superlift coils.)
As for shocks, some skyjacker Nitros or Rancho RS5000s would work pretty good.

little soft on the street (could be my cheapo shocks), but excellent ride and flex..
Ive pretty much decided on Maxxis Buckshots. The truck will see a lot of street driving and towing quads around so I dont want anything too agresive. The Buckshots arnt a bad price either. I can get them mounted and balanced here for 640
i went with a tuff country 4" w/extended arms and add a leaves and 33's on my 96 150 and its a good combo for the street/off road. definetely gets stuck sometimes, but it turned out to be a lot more capable than i thought. i also went up to 4.10's from 3.55's and it made a huge difference with the automatic, no more bogging or hunting.

I hads Buckshots on my 89 Bronco with a 4spd granny and I loved em....they grabbed good and they wore good......I'd buy another set in a heartbeat if I had anything to put em on.....Luck
Mine is a stick so I think I should do allright. Im not looking to do any hardcore wheeling but Im sure my truck will see plenty of mud. I think the clearance with 33s will be good. I mean in reality 35s are only giving you an extra inch right?

Right, the 35s are 1" larger above and 1" larger below the axle center point, only giving you 1" more ground clearance.
i ran 32x11.50s on my 89f150 no lift and no problems. that was more offset then stock rims(dont know the exact numbers). I dont know that you really need a 4" lift to run 33". Especially if your talking about too much rust. With the right rims and enough fender cut out(and your front bumper) i think you could get 35s on stock lift. on 87+ trucks the front bumper causes problems that the older trucks didnt have. the f150 i ran 32s on is manual and I6. The truck has a mazda m52d 5 speed and 3.55 gears and drove just fine. I never go into it offroad in the truck because its my daily driver. I load motorcycles and jetskis in the bed of it so it now has stock size tires.
I ran an 86f150 with a 6"suspension and 35s and i liked no lift for a street driven truck better. that truck was a 302, t19 with taller gears. You also dont run into steering or camber issues if you can do it without a lift.

I have a 94 F350 crew cab longbed, I just recently bought it and I have LT285 75R/16 tires on them right now. My question is how much bigger can I put on? Thanks for any suggestions!
I cant help you with that but I know my 95 150 would never have fit a 33 with out the lift. Maybe the 89s sit a little better from the factory but mine as are all 95s is 2 inches low in the front so regardless of the tires fitting it looked like something i borrowed from my grandpap. I ended up with a 4 inch super lift rather than the rough country. It only cost me 55 dollars more and I think it will be a better lift. I also ended up stuck buying leafs instead of blocks because one of my factory ones was broken. I had to get rid of the factory block and now I have nothing but leaf on the rear axel so Im hoping that is ok. Ill be going to get a set 33' Buckshots on Mickey Thompson classic II's tomorrow hopefully.
