Help with hood alignment on 1965 please?

When I bought my truck it had been recently painted. Some of the body lines have been out of whack, so I have been aligning them. The only one I am having trouble with is the hood. It is aligned well at the firewall but sits high on the front corners. There doesn't seem do be any way to lower the front. From the side, the front gap to the fender is pretty wide compared to the rear. See my gallery for pics of the gap. Any ideas?

try lowering the hood latch , that should do it. not sure but you may have to elongate the mounting holes for the hood latch to be able to lower it , but as i said that should do it.

First check to see how the fender to cowl alignment is. If you have a tapered gap there, you will need to lower the core support or raise the cab so the hood can be lowered more.
If the hood is already on the bumpers, movng the latch ring will do you no good.
The hood is supposed to be about 3/16" to 1/4" above the valnce and fenders, but be even all the way around.

The corners are not on the bumpers. I tried to lower the latch, but it seemed to be as low as possible. I will check the core support and fender adjustment in the morning.

Along the leading edges of the front fenders where they meet the inner fender aprons under the hood are adjustable hood bumpers.

There's one more at the center top of the painted grille panel.

While these are rubber, they thread on, so they are adjustable.

If the rubber is brittle with age, just cut the heads off.

Ford recommended doing just that, if the hood could not be aligned properly.

Lowering the hood latch is a bad idea. The hood will not latch properly and that'll cause the hood to open at speed and blow back against the windshield.

gallery pic: The front looks OK, but the sides appear to be too high. My guess is the hood hinges are tweaked....very common on these model trucks. The hood hinges are too weak to hold up the heavy hood, and become even weaker over the years. Old, tired and weak hood hinge springs can also cause the same problem.

I painted my grille the same way yours is painted...in 1965. I thought the grille looked "too busy" with all those vertical bars. The grille is still painted the same way today.

royalchoppers...the bumpers on the mid year 65 and 66 trucks used round hood bumpers near front of fenders and a round one at the center on the upper valance...the 61 thru mid year 65 used an oval type push in thpe bumper ...4 were used as I recall...2 per fender...the round type later bumpers are rubber donuts with metal washers molded into them and are non adjustable...a simple #2 phillips screw is all that holds them onto the truck..the latches on the hood are adjustable however. the latch in the upper valance has nil for adjustment.
In looking at the pics in your gallery the line between the fender and hood looks pretty good as far as I can see.
A good looking truck...I hope you post more pics of it in the future.

It looks like Rosati may be close. I went out and looked at the truck and it looks like the cab needs to be raised to lower the front of the hood. Everything is adjusted as far as it can go and there still is more of a gap in the front corners of the hood when compared to the rear. The truck looks like the General Lee after a creek jump. The cab mount rubbers are hole out. It looks like the cab has sunk because of the deteriated rubber.

double check that the cab mounts or any other foward structure hasnt deteriorated as in rotted/rusted away or gotten wrinkled from a collision...also check the same at the core support...
