I am looking at maybe trading for an '08 FX2. According to Ford web site "Build and Price" tool, the FX2, equipped with 5.4 engine and 20" wheels is only available with a 3.55 diff. I really would prefer 3.73, which I have in my '04 Screw, because I tow quite a bit.

Wonder why Ford won't offer a 3.73 with the 20" wheels? Guess I could always go aftermarket for the wheels, but then wouldn't that introduce speedo/tranny shift issues?

I have an 06 Lariat with the 20" wheels and I have a 3.73 LS in my truck. I ordered it that way. Mine is a 4x4 so I dont know if that makes a difference.

Yeah i think 4x4s only get 3.73 and 2wd get 3.55 or so it seems anyways

 

I got 07' Lariat 4x2 w/ 3.55, could have got it with 3.73. Could get it w/20" wheels but cannot get 20" wheels with Lariat chrome pkg.

 

The 08 order guide doesn't show this restriction. My guess is the online build and price feature doesn't allow all combinations, but you should be able to get this truck built.
