E-350 wagon

I just found that you can now order the E-350 wagon with the 6.0 PSD. But it is only rated at 215hp and 450 ft lbs of torque. Does anyone know why it would be rated with less power than the 6.0 I have in my 06 truck?

I'm thinking I'm going to buy one but would like to know if the HP can be brought to the same specs as my truck.

It is probably the heat issue. More HP equals more heat. No room around the engine. All my vans are detuned because of it. It sucks. But they really get hot inside the engine compartment. You can probably add more HP with a chip, but you have to find a way to cool it down. Add a hood scoop, more fans? I don't know the answer. I just live with the problem. But I'm sure it can be done.

I thought I read that around June of 2007 they had already taken all the orders they could for the last of the E-series diesels?

Heat may have a lot to do with the lower ratings, the air intake system is also more restrictive than the F-series trucks. Maybe another factor was that Ford had the diesel van market basically all to themselves.

Working on vans............well it kind of sucks, I sure wouldn't want to do anything that might put my warranty in jeoprody.

it wasn't avalible for a long time but my salesman called me and told me he could order them again....but with the 6.0 not the 6.4 which suits me fine I love the 6.0 in my truck. I looked on ford.com and did the build and price one and its back in there as an option.

Well I'll be, it is there in the build and price on some models, listed as a $7285 option. Interesting, its a higher dollar option than the 6.4 is in the Super Duty and AFAIK the 6.0 won't have the DPF.

I have a 2006 E350 with a 6.0. The reason it was de-tuned was a heat issue. I am satisfied with towing my 23' 7.500lb travel trailer. Milage is about 15mpg around town, 18 highway and 11 towing. Power is adequate and I have had no issues since delivery in May of '06. Try it, I would do it all over again.
