Propane??

I was wondering what the advantages of propane injection were. I know its diesel version of nitrous. but is it as bad for your diesel motor as nitrous is for a gas motor. and is it unpractical to run in a daily driven street truck?? any other information that i didn't ask about would be helpful, thanks.

It's actually not the diesel version of NO2. Propane is fuel. Nitrous is air. Both are "steroids". There are lots of diesels running NO2 now that the kits have been developed safely. I can't answer your other questions as I have no experience there, but you might post in the motor specific area for your truck and get better/quicker answers.

I'm sure 6L PWR can answer your questions on that.

propane injection will make a diesel peppy as all get out but will also boost the exhaust gas temperatures. unless you like buying turbo's, pistons & valves, you need to have an exhaust gas pyrometer and be able to shutdown the propane when the temps get out of hand. My son had a military duce & 1/2 boosted by propane and he said that propane could be on at wot for only a little over a minute but was good enough to get them out of town before they had to cut out the propane. He said it would throw you back into the seat when turned on at wot.

Burns clean but hot. As long as you watch the exhaust gas temps and stay under 1100 degrees f you shouldn't cause any damage. Heat can get hot enough to burn/melt pistons
burn exhaust valves and damage the turbo if you leave it on past 1100 degrees. Like I said they were feeding it with a toggle switch operated solenoid valve through the ether injection system and always shut it down prior to 1100. He said the 25 mph to bury the odometer acceleration was awesome on the military truck and much appreciated by the guys riding with him when it was needed.
