1997 7.3 peformance checks?
I tried search but I dont so so well with such and couldnt find just what I needed so sorry of if has been asked 1000 times before. My new to me 97 450 besides having the before mentioned cold temp problem also (I think) has some problems with fueling, boost or both. I need to mention that I have driven Power Strokes since 95 so I am a bit familiar (not to be confused with expert) with the performance quirks of the things. In its present form this is a cab chassis, nothing but 150 some inches of wheelbase out back and some flaps so no weight issues. On to the symtoms, The truck starts and runs great with no missing, smoke or other issues but it seems to be very sluggish to about 2200 RPM when it suddenly developes that familiar Power Stroke HP. Sometimes a little under 22 like 2000 sometimes 2500 RPM. My 95 PS F250 pulled like a freight train at much lower RPMS as I remember as does my other current truck a 2001 7.3 F350. I am giving any clues that would help? The truck has no gauging other than factory issue and I never had to diagnose power problems with my trucks before, thanks in advance for advise on where to start looking.

how much mileage? it could be injecotr o-rings starting to go but you usually get some light smoke if you hold it to the floor in park. other then that you may want to try getting rid of the cat, she could be on the way to getting plugged up. have you inspected the turbo blades for dirt ingestion?
