i for one own a xcab hd. the only real diffrence is the heavier springs, load d tires and 410 gears. i know that because of the computer that it dont jump off the line like you would think though.
As for rims and the 7-bolt pattern check out http://www.skulte.com, they can make an adapter to fit any rim you can think of. Also I can vouch for thier strength, cause on one 4x4 adventure I found a large rock hiding in some long grass that I hit going sidways and blew the rim to pieces and the adapter was still perfect!! they are a quality product! Check out thier customer photos section, there is a real nice F-150 in there
I would never go with any other model of F-150. These are Real Trucks !!

I now know how to get rid of that computer lag with the CMR tune for my Predator. It is called "traction delay".
is that tune only for the predator, because i have the sct/bama chip. I really hate that lag.
The CMR software is only available to select dealers for the Diablosport Predator. However, I did not even know about it until I had the dyno tuning done so it is not unlikely the SCT/Bama tuner will have something similar that is not advertised.
BTW I drove my HD about 400 km back to Saskatoon today and it does not appear to have any of the 2004 issues (speed sensitive vibration, cam phaser noise) that can be really annoying. It does appear to need some ebrake work.
Well after waiting for about 3 months I finally have the truck on the road and even though it is kind of silly for where I live I really do appreciate the way it rides down the highway. Nothing makes a truck ride better than lots of wheelbase. I have also been down a few gravel roads and you really have to watch your speed. It is very easy to get going way too fast for conditions because the truck is so quiet and handles and rides so well.
It is really wintery here right now so the fuel economy is not great. I think that I like what the 4.10 gears do for acceleration, although it is still a heavy truck to get going off the line.
I'm hoping to get my wheels this week and I think that I will simply swap over the Goodyear AT/S's that are on it. They seem to be a pretty good winter tire.
This truck really confirms my impression that Ford put more sound deadening material into the 2004 trucks than they ever have since, and I really like the throttle remapping feature in the transmission "2" position for use in parking lots and slippery streets.
Of course what I don't like is having to plan my parking very carefully.
BTW I came out of my local saloon yesterday afternoon and there large as life was a 2005 XLT version of my truck. From the rack in the box and the hook type hitch it was pretty apparent that the truck is being used for what it was designed to do, carry and pull some load. I was in a hurry or I would have waited to talk to the driver.
Well the wheels are finally installed and as so often happens it was the details that caused a bit of grief. We had neglected to order the appropriate wheel nuts to go with the wheels and what should have been a quick in and out from the tire shop drug into about 5 hours. Still I think that the final result looks pretty nice.
I am rethinking the wheel well treatment and may go with a chromed lip molding if I can find a quality one.
Check out my gallery for pics of the wheels and also a little idea of how much snow that we have here. I am using 4x4 every day in the city and find that because of the shifter location it is almost as handy as the dash mounted switch.
I have an '05 HD. NO troubles with it. I also do not like the wheels so I bought some of those chrome "plastic" trim caps to cover them. They'll do till I pay off the truck and change wheels and tires.

I learned a lesson from putting on these wheels. When I checked out a couple of U.S. discount wheels sites yesterday I noticed that the lug nuts and chrome valve stems were included in the price. The tire shop where I had mine done charge me $10 a wheel for nuts and $24 a wheel for chromed valve stems. Added an extra $150 to the price in a hurry.
I wonder if they build the HD's on a separate line from the rest of the F150's and how many runs they make in a model year. They always seem to be in limited supply.
Well guys I guess I've joined the club even if it wasn't intentional. I just got this a few days ago and didn't really know what I had until I started doing some research. So far I'm liking it pretty good.
