Brake Problems With 01 E350 15 Passenger
I took it to a brake place and they quoted a price of just under $900.00....holy smokes!!! They want to replace all the brake pads and all four rotors. I checked Ford's Motorcraft site and those front rotors for a Super Duty E350 are not cheap.....
I haven't been driving the van, except for a short drive here and there, due to the brakes. What I noticed is that rotors surfaces are not completely shinny, but appear to have spots where you can see the surface was contacted by the pad and other areas of the rotor do not appear to be contacted by the pad. To me three of the four rotors appear to have high spots or are partially warped.
Before spending about $600 on four new rotors, plus pads can these rotors be machined? Maybe this brake place doesn't machine and just replaces instead of machining, I do not know.....but I do know that many rotors can be machined to true up the surfaces. I have also heard of single use rotors and drums, which do not have enough material after normal use to be machined.....I am hoping that these are machinable....and saveable.....
Comments please!!!

find another brake shop
there is a possability that once machined
you will still need to replace a rotor
there may be one or more warped bad enough
that once cleaned up they may be too thin
but only after they have been machined will you know for shure
probably only one is warped really bad and causing the vibration
