trans slipping question
I replaces the range senor on the trans of my 99 zx2. I had to fiddle with the shift lever. It acted as if it was in drive so it had a no start. I started it and it immiately took off in 3rd gear "Drive" so I pulled it down into low. It downshifted and then I stopped, procceeded to take off again and it reved maybe 300rpm on a 3,000rpm 1-2 shift. Maybe a "bad" new senor as the car would not restart after I shut if off, until I put the old sensor back in. Anyway to my question I have faithfuly changed the trans/filter with Mobil 1 milti vihicle that stated on the bottle Dextron, dentron II,III, mercon, mercon IV. My owners manual states mercon can I get a straight "mercon" fluid and should that stop the slip????

I fixed it. The slipping was due to the trans sucking air by a damaged filter. I also went with castrol mercon fluid and it shifts considerably firmer than with Mobil 1. i will use castrol conventional from now on due to the increased shift firmness.
