Possible Fuel Filter issues??

Hi guys another quick question . . .

yesterday i am driving my truck for the first time in a week (was out of town on business) and about 3-5 miles into the second shift of driving it (i had already driven it once in the morning about 35 miles to work and was now making the second drive that day to go back home for another 35 miles or so)
i feel that hesitation that it gives me when she is about to run out of gas.

it was the exact same feeling

problem is, before i left on my trip i filled up the front tank and it has about 40 miles driven on it since then

could this be a fuel filter going bad/getting clogged? bad or clogged fuel injector??

pump?

i know my senders are bad cause the needle doesnt work as well as it used to.
it still sorta half works which tells me the floater is probably got a hole in it and is filling with gas which gives me a bad reading

thats my guess

anyway so points to note that might be relevant:

days before i left and before i filled it up i disconnected the fuel selector switch to remove the dash while trying to install a radio (which didnt work--radio wouldnt turn on nor would the factory one when i tried to test it by reconnecting it)

it was disconnected for a good while with and without the battery connected

when i reconnected for the last time as i was ready to put everything back together, it shot up to full on both tanks

one tank was not full at all

it shot up to way past full, it was laying flat to the right

after i removed selector harness again and reconnected it stopped doing that but only reads empty 245/7 until today when it read 3/4 tank which is pretty darn close to accurate.

whataya think is goin on here?

wow, this was a short question . . . imagine a long one

thanks a million for all your help guys!

it helps if you say which year truck you have.

i suspect something to do with the selector switch is causing the problem.

very rarely a fuel filter gets clogged enough to cause problems.

if it has not been changed in a long while you should change it but i bet it is not the problem.

I'd bet that with all these problems you are having. You have some ground issues. Please check all grounds starting with the battery.

Before you go spending time and money on fixing all these other problems, please fix the ground issue. It may solve all your problems at once.
