Hey All.. ></O>

I have just joined the site, I have been browsing a bit and looks like there is lots of knowledge so that’s always a bonus!<O></O>

well to start off I should let you know about my current truck,<O></O>

I have just traded an old 94 Buick regal for a 94 F150.<O></O>

she is pretty plain Jane, with a sassy 6 and all the features you would expect in an XL of the year, including a steering wheel, haha!<O></O>

But one of the good things about it, even though it has some dings in it, the body is wicked solid! really hard to believe.<O></O>

As soon as I got it, I got it briefly checked over by my mechinac and was told I need some ball Joints and a starter. So a buddy and I took at it, and changed it all up with some help from a few older fellas that have done it many times before. It was nice getting together and just working on the old girl..<O></O>

Along with this bit of info, I do have a question for you guys. I have found a 302 in a weekly flier from my community, for a really good buy, I guess I was wondering if it is not in a vehicle is there any way I can tell if it is a decent engine before purchasing it? <O></O>

Ok, thanks all for your help and I look forward in reading all your posts as well... <O></O>

Personally I feel changing from a 300 to a 302 is a downgrade. The 300 makes good low down torque where a truck needs it. If you really wanted to do a v8 swap at least go for the 351. Sounds like a nice truck though, hope you enjoy it.

I with chrono on this on (even as an owner of a 302), The 300 is a better low end motor, the only place the 302 is better is at high rpms.

Right on.. I had both as well, I actually liked the 302 alot better, I dont run my trucks really hard, but I like to have a nice dual exhaust, and I found my 302 had a lot more guts..(although it was also a new create engine, and most of my sixes were very old) but i will probably keep the six in her till I go to upgrade... and she aint all that pretty right now, but I am hoping to get some gear for it soon.. I need some mirrors ( the old guy i got it from i think sold the original mirrors off it and put big chev mirrors on it.. and the front bumper is bent up pretty bad... i will be scavaging the junk yards to see what i can pick up....

welcome to FTE . Sounds Like you have a little Humor . You should fit in fine.

I run Only 302's and 300's But the 300-6 really reliable and the low end tork .
