well i have made progress in that it is a miss , or dead miss , not rought idle.... as of this morning.. i swapped around several injectors to make sure it was or was not an injector & it was not.. also re-set timing from beginning , and replaced plugs , cap . rotor , wires .. all with top line from my NAPA store,,, anyway started to check into valve issue ,, since # 3 plug still foul out with fluid ( gas , i believe not oil) ,, I removed valve cover , re-installed intake , ect .. started motor , watched oil start to splash around ( keep outside of block from rusting ) , and lossened the intake & exshaust # 3 , wow , it idle smooth , / or shall i say it no longer missed !! and now when the # 3 injector wire harness is unplugged the rpm drop's & run's like crap , as happens when you do the other injectors wires , so problem is an valve issue,, even on new motor it is possible,, well with the rocker arm bolts loose enought to make it run right , there is also the situation of being able to turn the pushrod's around by hand with motor running , ( ONLY on # 3 thro- ) , and the bolt's now seem to start to back them selves out as it run's , i am sure they would continue till they fall out.. so if i have to have the rocker arm bolt's that loose , along with puch rod issue , possibly colasped lifter's , or at least not pumped up like rest ????? hate to pull that side cover & change 2 lifter's ,, any other idea's ??? please post here & also e-mail me @ coorslight4u@attbi.com thank you...........mark
anyone want to help with this on land line , let me know . i will greatly pay long distance charges........ I am in salem oregon.. come on FORD BROTHERS , help one out... some one here must know about valves & lifters more then me ...

Where did you buy the motor? Does it have a warrenty? Sounds like something is wrong with the valve seat in the head. I would call them and find out your options. If you have no recourse, I would pull the head off and have a look. Depending on how loose you have to leave the rocker arm, you could possibly shim underneath the arm fulcrum to make it work(I am assuming it's like a V8-I have never worked on a six).

i did not buy this motor, what happened was ,, on a sunday afternoon , my water pump started to make a real bad noise, i went to my napa store , (WERE I ONLY SHOP ) , and they were out of what i needed, so needing to drive the truck to work , monday morning , i went to a local AUTOZONE, and it all started , ,,, they were out of the part as , well, before i left thou- the sales person, said "hold on", he went to the back & came with a pump , i asked thought you were out , he said " the 4.9 is same as in a 92 250 ,,, anyway , he said this one will work, .. i asked even though part # different ??? he said yes .. :-X11 so took it , put it on & started truck,, WOW the noise was bad ,, & the water & steam out tailpipe ... well the one i needed had about 1 1/8" thick housing , & the one he sold me had about an 5/8" houseing & top water pump mount bolt , went right thru cyl. wall & when piston came up is groved right down thru rings... now water in head ... so i took some time off & got them to replace the motor , not sure what brand it is, but was a compltete long block,, & got $$$ from them for having it put in, spent week-end doing that,, anyway.. problem with it is warranty issue's are handled thru there corp office in memphis... and a real pain to get things handled ,,, let me end this rampage by saying .....NAPA HAS NEVER FAILED ME !!!auto zone is the rip off store, go in rich & leave poor...

You have what appears to be a valve that is to tight and my guess is that the seat was gorund to deep the installed height is to tall. Your choices are check the height and see how far out of spec it is then you can either grind the stem off or the easiest is to go with a shorter push rod. It sounds like you have the lock down rocker studs so you can't just loosen the nut it will not stay on. LOL
