does your stereo have rca inputs on the back? you could possibly get a cable to go from the ipod headphone plug which converts to an rca.....it seems like there has to be a way to do this. i know why you hate the FM modulator so bad....
Matt, can I get a pie adaptor anywhere? I have the sAME radio bit no de player so my aux port is not used but on the back there is no jack to plug into. When I push the aux button it says "no aux audio"
Never mind. I jsut called my dealer and FORD make a part that i can install in the back of the radio to allow me to plug in a ipod. Just ordered it. $50

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does this really exist? What type of adaptor is this and is it compatible with your 04?????????????????????
It is an adaptor that attached to the plugs in the back of the stereo and then you can plug a 3.5 mm plug into it. You can't use the steering wheel controls for it, but you can use your ipod under the AUX control. Better than nothing and its a clean install.
Do you have a Ford part number??
And will it work with any of the factory radios short of the audiophile 6CD/MP3 unit? I too have a 06 Lariat with the factory single CD and satellite radio. Sirius uses the aux control - does this adapter impact that???
The newer models actually have a better unit that will allow you to use your steering controls i believe. Call your parts department and they will know what it is. I don't have the part number now

I called my Parts guy and he confirmed this adapter is available thru Ford for about $50. BUT he could not answer this question... does it force you to choose between having the iPod or the Satellite radio connected to the Aux port? Maybe Carnivore can tell us? Does it disable the satellite radio???

Yes Indeed!! It's one or the other. Read back through the other post. I thought I read about something that was nothing more than an A/B switch.
I have an 04 Screw w/ factory single disc (non mp3) and an external Sat. radio. I bought the PIE adaptor from Crutchfield. The Sat. radio is clipped onto the heater vent and all the wires are run through the duct including the 3.5mm for the PIE. Blah, Blah, Blah. I'll go get a pic.
I've finally decided on the Brandmotion adapter. I've got to say i was incredibly impressed with their sales help. I sent email after email asking questions to be sure their adapter would a) be compatible with my radio and b) allow me to control the iPod thru the radio and steering wheel controls, while also retaining my satellite radio. They answered each email specifically showing me compatability charts as well as a comparison between their adapter, the Ford adapter and the Peripheral.
In my opinion, based solely on my fairly exhaustive research, theirs seems the easiest to install and allows the most natural and most detailed control of the iPod. AND I get to keep my satellite service. Plus the Brandmotion will work with non-MP3 Ford radios. They even offered to talk me thru the installation 'live' on the phone.
And all of this was yesterday - a national holiday!
I'll be installing it as soon as it arrives in a few days and I'll report back on the actual installation and use.
Still working the cassette adapter for the iPod. Does anyone know if the back of my radio has an available input for one of these interface systems? I have the factory installed radio: AM/FM Cassette, single DVD...don't have an AUX or SAT button...
Cassette adapter is working pretty good, cheap too. But, would love to clean it up with an iPod interface I could just plug into.

I checked the Brandmotion compatability chart they sent me and it doesn't show any Excursion radio. Best way to findout is contact them direct. You'll need your radio part #. You can find links to their sites in some of the earlier posts on this thread. To find you radio part number, do the following:
1) turn key on
2) turn radio on
3) press am/fm button
4) press and hold presets 3 & 6 simultaneously and hold for 1-2 seconds
5) press preset 6 (whithin 5 seconds of step 4)
6) press tuning up button (^)
Your readout should then show part # - likely it starts with 5L3T or similar. Have a pencil ready to write the number down and you may have to repeat the process a few times as the number displays for only a few seconds - at least that's how mine worked. Jeff Varick at Brandmotion was of great help to me.
The TripTunes 6R3Z-19A464-AA is an FM modulated connection. READ BELOW FULL DESCRIPTION. I just ordered an Alpine CDA-9886 (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...DA9886&tp=5684) from Crutchfield to install in my 05 Supercrew. I hope everything works. I am tired of trying to find a solution also.
