I have a 1990 F-150 that's got a 302 5spd. in it. My problem is when you're accelerating, the truck acts as if it was lugging (which it's not; even when you're wrapped up on the tach) and it's been going on for some time. It's like a bucking feeling and it only does it when your accelerating at all. Some times it clears up. My thoughts were going towards the injectors, but now it's starting to do something else, when you're at a complete stop it bucks now and the tach needle moves. I was hoping maybe someone might be able to help me out here, I wanted to ask some guys around here before I try and dump money to have the injectors replaced or cleaned and that's not it.
General statement: anytime you feel a fuel delivery issue may be to blame, run a bottle of injector cleaner through the tank. (Better yet, seafoam)
Well the first thing that jumps into my head with the acceleration problem sounds like more of a throttle body sensor issue. Im gunna think on this one and get back to you.
Ya know, Lucas oils makes a good injector cleaner. Dump the entire bottle in your tank and see how it works. Is the CEL on?
Do you have a K&N filter too?
My MAF needs cleaning and my over 100k 5.8 needs 02 sensor attention. Do you have similar issues/conditions like me?
The check engine light does come on when its doing its problem so i'm going to go pull the codes and check that out. This weekend I'm probably going to try the seafoam out, I've heard a lot of good things about it so it can't hurt to try.
